***NOW AVAILABLE*** Welcome to the pre-dreadnought era of naval war, where the battleship is the uncontested ruler of the waves. No subs, no planes, and even torpedoes are just an afterthought. The big gun decides battles, and the fate of nations. Naval Thunder is a fast and furious naval combat game that gives you all the flavor of the era, without bogging you down in rules. When the first pre-dreadnought expansion for Naval Thunder was released (Rise of the Battleship), our fans immediately began clamoring for more. Naval Thunder has since become the new standard for pre-dreadnought naval gaming, and Rise of the Battleship II takes it to the next level. Naval Thunder: Rise of the Battleship II includes data cards for six navies (American, Austrio-Hungarian, British, German, Italian, Spanish) all the way from mighty battleships, to destroyer and torpedoboat flotillas. In all, well over hundred classes of ship are represented. Also included are special rules to tailor Naval Thunder even more closely to the pre-dreadnought era of naval combat. THIS IS NOT A STAND-ALONE PRODUCT. NAVAL THUNDER: CLASH OF DREADNOUGHTS, AND NAVAL THUNDER: RISE OF THE BATTLESHIP ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY. Get it here for only $9.95!www.wargamevault.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=2624&filters=0_0_0&src=NavalThunder&affiliate_id=246495

As a long time WWII Naval Gamer I had never played pre-dreads until last October at NAVCON when I stumbled across RoTB being played. I have not looked back since and my Pre-dread fleets now rival my WWII fleets. If you enjoy Naval Gaming and have not tried Pre-dreads you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Just be careful it is a very slippery slope.

Predreads = no radar, short range torpedoes, no aircraft. Just gunfire and maneuver with a few smokescreens thrown in once in awhile. About as pure naval gaming as there is. ;D

Also no radios . . . in fact it wasn't until very late in the RJW (RotB 1) that wireless even became a factor. Plus a lot of the ships are pretty "funky" designs, so you have some very interesting models on the table top.
The Pre-Dreadnought era is also a great one for some "what if" campaigns both in European waters and the South Pacific.
