Tonight was the first time i played the game out side of naval con last oct. i meet with someone that i have been playing uncharted seas with the past few months and we did a greman vs usa fight tonight at the hobby shop in grayslake, il.
I ran the us ships Indiana(1896), Illinois(1901), Olympia(1895), Philidlphia(1890), new york(1893), pennsllvania(1905).
the germans where brandenburg, braunschweig, prinz heinrich, prince adalbert, and one more brandenburg i think..lost the sheet right now. pics will be posted laters. writing now since the fight is fresh in my mind.
the minis we where useing where everything from 1000 scale, 600, and 1200 scale. things where being used for fill in. we where double the range and movment...the game lasted i think 5 turns before we called it....
i had 2 battleships and 4 cruisers about rough points cost to his a little bit in my fav i think. he had 3 battleships and 2 cruisers. we did not use the moral rules or fleet flags, it was just a straight up fight to learn the rules and how the system works. we used a dice to see who moved and then moved our ships in the order that the rules said to. then the other person moved.
the germans split thier fleet with two of the battleship going to my left and the other one and his cruiser going to my right. I lost the ILL a couple of turns in from being pounded hard and the crit damage added upalso. Next apoint blank torp exhange with cruiers went hay wire with all of them missing i think or them being damaged to not be able to fire. we where doing damage with the small 4 and 3 inch guns trying to do crits...lots and lots of dice to roll....
i lost the Olympia to a battleship fire next. then got to the point of being on all sides of his right hand battalehsip hoping to do some damage with torps....and gun fire....he opened up with everything in the battleship phase and sank the new york and philly beefore i could do anything and did some damage to the penn state aliong with support fire from his cruisers.
we called the game after that with the role of 7+ to see if aany ships make it back to port...both of mine made it with very heavy damage to the indy and some to the penn state.
all of his ships where very damaged with 2 of them with one point left when we called it....the weird thing is none of them made it home....they all where sunk after that fight some how....
over all the game was fun, have to read the rules again to under stand everything cause there where a couple of things i will have reread ans ask about. the ships i chose pretty much at random for both sides where amusing with the penn being the best damage sink at 55 point but only an armor of 10. she could take more damage then the battleships. i think i will have to try her again in a fight. i did not see till now that the Olympia moves and fires in the flotilla stage..opps. the philly moves in cruiser and fires in floty..thats weird.
in think we might have been doing some of the damage pen wrong for the sec and trird guns, but i will have to look that up again for what to do.
not much of a great battle report. just kinda giving an idea of what happend over all.
