like this idea...just making things up here for use main gun 13 inch pen5 damage 10 sec gun 8 inch pen3 damage 5 tri gun 3 inch pen 0 damage 2 torp 10damage
lets say i hit with all the above guns into say armor of 15....now what do i do..that what has me confused a bit. and i see something about if a gun cant get pen but still dones something on a roll of ten? thankd for any help. a

Torps don't pen in CoD. They just do damage and roll on the torp critical table.
For guns just roll a d10 and add it to the pen value (with modifiers for range, crossing the T, etc.).
If the total IS GREATER than the AV of the target, you do the damage listed for the gun. Then roll on the critical table.
If its less than or equal to, you do 1/2 the damage of the gun (rounded down on each shell), and that is all.
If the gun has NO chance to penetrate, even on a roll of 10, roll the Penetration die anyway. If you do get a roll of 10, roll 1d10 on the critical chart and do what it says, but inflict 0 hull points of regular damage.
Actually, ignoring other modifiers, none of those guns can penetrate the armor at all.
So for the sake of example, let's assume your main gun has a Pen of 7.
In that case, your main gun has to roll a 9 or better to penetrate. If it pens it does 10 damage + a critical. If it does not pen it does 5 damage and that is all.
The other guns have no chance to pen at all and will do 0 damage. But they still get to roll a pen die anyway. On a natural roll of 10 then can then roll 1 die on the critical table.
Does that help at all?
