On Monday we got our ships out again sincewe'd not played them in a while. With only 3 of us we decided to do The Falklands with 2 British players and one German. We use the scenario set up as per the VaS:AoD scenario but of course used CoD rules ;D
Sorry, no pics.
We started with part 1 having the Invincible and Inflexible take on the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. The British opened up at long range but poor shells prevented any critical damage; the Germans quickly came about to reduce the range so they could actually return fire.
Having come about the germans used evade moves but whilst at long range themselves they were now at medium range for the British who stated to pound them hard. The Scharnhorst quickly succumbed to critical hits wrecking its targeting systems and starting fires, the Gneisenau was better of just taking hull damage. Return German fire proved ineffectual even being at plunge fire range.
By turn 5 The Scharnhorst 's hull was wrecked and she sank. The Gneisenau finally did some damage to one of the Brits and knocked out a secondary gun but to no avail. She to could not stand the punishment and rolled over and sank due to too much hull damage.
So pretty much historical with only minor damage to the brits.
We then did part 2 with the German light cruiser vs the British armoured cruisers. We applied the 1inch move penalty to the Germans as per the scenario to simulate the Germans need for maintenance.
Once more the German turned to fight and strove to reduce the range. Failure in British comms mean they split with Glasgow and Cornwall going one way and the Kent the opposite way. Early shooting by the Germans saw the Glasgow take some minor damage but not much else. The Kent had some good hits on the Dresden and she sank quite quickly. With the Glasgow out in front the German all swung to target her and veered away from the Kent leaving the Kent out of range.
The Glasgow now took major hits from the Leipzig and Nurnburg resulting in major fires and floods. The damage was to much and the Glasgow sank to the bottom.
The Kent returned to the fray and along with the Cornwall shot the Leipzig to bits, leaving its rudder jammed and on fire, it too quickly sank. The Nurnburg decided to one one last pop at the rapidly approching Kent causing some minor damage but the full effect of 2 armoured cruisers was too much and it to sank to the bottom.
So, a moral victory for the germans who although lost did better than their historical counterparts by at least sinking 1 British ship.
Good fun all round and nice to get the ships out again. Hopefully I'll have the camera for the next one.
