Hi all, I like the base background for the Colonials in MvM; in fact, I like it better than canonical BSG because it has more connection to Earth and less of the mystical aspect. I want to flesh it out a bit in case I want to do different paint schemes/emblems, ship naming conventions, colony-specific faction bonus, early fleets and civil wars, etc. That being said, all we get is that there are 8 colonies which are all moons of a gas giant in the habitable zone of Sigma Draconis. One scenario names a moon Proxima Delta, but the impression is that it is a small research outpost, so I would make Proxima a smaller gas giant that occupies the innermost orbit and Delta would be its fourth moon. My first effort is to come up with names for the colonies. Canon goes for zodiac, so I looked for groups of 8 with unique names. The two best fits I found are the 8 winds from the Tower of the Winds in Athens en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_the_Winds and the Ba Gua en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba_gua. Wind names would be: Gas Giant - Aeolus Moons - Boreas, Skiron, Zephyrus, Livas, Kaikias, Eurus, Apeliotes, and Notus. Ba Gua would be: Gas Giant - Taiji Moons - Qian/Sky, Dui/Lake, Li/Fire, Zhen/Thunder, Xun/Wind, Kan/Water, Gen/Mountain, and Kun/Earth. I think I prefer the wind scheme, but the Ba Gua has lots of personalization already built-in, like symbols, animals, elements, numbers, etc. Just wanted to throw this out and see if anyone else has ideas, or if everyone just uses canonical background (assuming no Fall!)

I think its awesome to see someone fleshing this out even more. I always just assumed people would ignore the background in favor of the BSG or their other favorite settings in the case of the core rules. But I've been surprised by how many people really took to it in both products. Maybe I need to write a novel. lol.

I'll just add it to the queue. . . which means you should be seeing it by August of 2032 at the latest.

Will that be before, or after, RotBIII?
