Just bought the rules and am excited to try them. (First ever naval ruleset.)
However, I saw the thread on the destroyers but couldn't find the end result of the discussion. I thought, before I get too far into the rules it would be nice to see what the "final" ruling is.
Thank you and I look forward to joining the world of naval battles.

Welcome aboard and I can say you have definitely chosen a great set of rules to start your naval gaming with.
From memory the rules changes that Dreadnought intends to include in the next update/edition are:
1. the base to hit number for destroyers will go from 9+ to 10+.
2. evasion will cost a flat 3" for all ships, not just destroyers, rather than half your movement.
There may be others but these are the main ones I can remember.

i thought that he also said that ships can lanch torps at any times during thier move and then run like hell also to do an attack run and then turning tail and getting away from the big guns?

I play that evading DDs are immune from main gun attacks - think I picked that up from here.

I don't believe this will be the final word on DDs. Dread has created a living set of rules with this forum. Members here have great say on new rules and helping with now things change.

Here is a website that describes the sequence required to fire torpedoes off of a USN DD. Gives a good idea of why the ship must hold course for a period before launching. www.hnsa.org/doc/destroyer/ddfc/index.htm
