last night i ran a 3 way free for all with everyone using the ILL battleship from the turn of the centeny, the new york and the pen state ships, one battleship, two cruisers for each player. if anyone has seen some of me pics before i have a blue sheet i lay out with a bunch of tire mounds and ice rocks i use for ilands for naval games. this was in 1000 scale and the game was into knife fighting range by turn 2....
I am sorry about now having any pics i totaly forgot to bring my camera withme.
the players where myself on one end, jerry in the middle and pat at the far ene of the table which was 4 x 5 think.
the basic feel of the fight was torps got used by not lots of effect that much when they did hit. not like in the WWII setup where one torp sinks a ship. The armor of 17 on the ILL was hell...noone could pen it with 13inch guns...lots of half damage and hail mary shots from the need a 10 to do a supper sturt hit. the new yorks where the first ships that went down pretty quick to lots of fire and flooding.....
the crits where fast and flying with sevra ships getting bridge hits and then sinking from 3 or 4 fires out of contol...which was amsuing over flooding though. the crits where more of what sank ships then gunfire for damage. we played to the last player with a ship left just to show the rules to the other people i played with.
it was a very fun game in the 4 hours we played meybe less after setup and expaining the rules.
the really annoying things that happned......shotting 7 guns and miss with most of them..happened all night for most guns in a batch would miss for large groups.
I turned into jerry and delt with him and pat sailed in and mopped up the both of us. lots of fire, missing guns, loosing lots of main guns..sigh...many times crossing the t in point blank range to watch most of your guns miss....
sorry, not the greatest battle report. more rambling then anything....but i did get to play at least and have two more players i hope....
