For those of us with old eyes, the "battleship gray" background might seem appropriate . . . BUT it makes it difficult to read (especially with the tiny font size).
In addition, the "shadow font" style at the top of the page is totally illegible.
Please realize that many of us older gamers don't have the eyesight of a fighter pilot.

By 'shadow font' do you mean the navigation trail at the top left?
OK. . . we'll play with the colors and see if we can come up with something themey-but easier on the eyes.

I'll play around with it... see if we can find something more legible. It's tough to find a color that appears clearly on both the dark "metal bits" background and the gray forum text background.
Might have to go with a black background with white text. Is that easier or harder for people to read?
Wish we could adjust the font size... but we can't.

OK, thoughts on the black background, white text, yellow-orange links theme?
Also, is anyone seeing something different than that (after you hit refresh)?

I am not fond of white on black . . . but it is a bit easier to read than before. Actually if I "highlight it" (which on my computer gives it a light-blue background) it is easier to read than the black. You might try some "sea" colors and see how they do?
Yes, the "shadow font" (now changed) referred to the navigation bar. And again, highlighting it makes it easier to read yet.

I created a new skin called "Blue Easy 2 Read" and made it available for anyone to use. There are now several skin choices, and you can apply the one to your profile that you prefer. Currently available skins: Steel Dreadnought Games - the default - black background/white text. Blue Easy 2 Read - blue background/white letters. Less obnoxious yellow color for links. Steel Dreadnought Games2 - Different texture on the background, gray background (I think). Default - Light blue-gray/black text. To change the skin for your profile: - Select the profile link from the top of the screen (next to LOGOUT).
- Select Modify Profile from the top of your profile information.
- Scroll down to the 2nd section from the bottom, called Account Preferences.
- Choose the skin you want from the dropdown box labeled Select Skin.
- Be sure to save your modifications before exiting by clicking "Modify profile" at the bottom. You may need to refresh your screen to see the new skin.

Thank you, don'tpanic . . . but I should advise that the "SAVE" button is the one marked "Modify Profile" (or something like that . . . my memory isn't the finest).
Anyway, for me the "blue" is quite nice and much easier for me to read. I appreciate your help.

I think the white on black and the other background colors works well. I'm glad I wasn't here for the gray.

I'm glad I wasn't here for the gray. It was very pretty. Just maybe not as practical.
