Hey All,
finally got some time to fiddle around with some more Dutch ships. This time the never built Project 1047 Battlecruiser. This was conceived as a cruiser killer to take on the Japanese cruisers around the Dutch East Indies. It was based on the Scharnhorst hull and main weapons with the Italian torpedo protection.

A few things to note are that the ship was only in the planning stages when the Netherlands fell in 1940 so much of the data is supposition.
The main guns whilst similar in look to the Scharnhorsts and to be built by Krupp were slightly different at only 11" and had a higher elevation. I felt the range would be similar enough to keep the same but the armour penetration should fall somewhere between the Graf Spee and Scharnhorst guns.
Also it would supposedly have been a faster ship than the Scharnhorst with slightly thinner armour.
The AA I have made reasonably high for an early war design as the 1047 had a reasonable amount of 20mm and 40mm guns as well as the 4.7" dual purpose guns in a far more efficient design to the Germans. The Dutch were expecting to face quite a heavy air presence against Japan. It could be higher but the Dutch never developed a particularly good fire control system.
I think the ship is reasonably close to the specs the designers came up with and should be quite a fight for the Japanese cruiser divisions. Even the supporting Kongos might find it a tough opponent.
