Well, hopefully I'll have 16 Fubuki's from England by Navcon so my destroyer problem will go away, but all the ships for the first game are cruisers and capital ships. I might try running two games, the first as an intro and the second as a large slugging match. I'm thinking of throwing one of my Amagi BCs out on the table for the first match. It will certainly get some attention but I think my H44 will get a bit more... That ship is just massively ridiculous.

I am planning on going and in the process of designing a game to run. The problem is that I am lacking in Japanese destroyers as I only have six at the moment. Otherwise, I am set and just trying to figure out how many ships to put on the table.

I just dropped it to a 6+ to hit as it isn't all that fast. It may have been a knot or two faster that Nagato, but 6" speed doesn't seem like enough to jump up into the fast battleship category. The Kii and Amagi are certainly fast enough to get that 7+ to hit though.

These four battlecuisers would have ruled the Pacific until the Lexingtons showed up. Even then, it would have been pretty close. Amagi was destroyed by an earthquake and Akagi became the carrier we all know and love/hate and despise. I have four of these again thanks to Navwar. I really do love those guys...

These four ships were supposed to follow the Tosas into the water, but the Washington Naval Treaty ended that. Plus, Japan probably couldn't have built them anyway. They are pretty nice ships and I like the four I got from Navwar by way of Last Square in Madison.

To fight the American ships I just put up here, I designed the Japanese 8-8-8 ships, at least the ones I have models for. Here's the first one, the Tosa Battleships. These are basically just a stretched Nagato and somehow comes in with fewer hull points than the Nagato despite being 8,000 tons heavier. Oh well...

Six of these beauties were supposed to follow the Colorados but never quite made it out of the yards thanks to the Washington Naval Treaty. They would have been the best battleships around until the Japanese monsters entered the water. I have one and I acquiring the remaining five soon, so I figured I'd make some rules for them. Navco makes these little guys.

Ok, I may have just entered the Twilight Zone with this one, but Navwar did make a model of this monster that I am searching the Earth for. Until I find some, my paper token will have to suffice. The 18" gun data is based on experimental gun data and probably is a bit too good, but this ship is designed to break the rules anyway...

I also have one of these and it much more agreeable on the eyes than the 1916 version. It is probably one of my favorite ships even though it was very still missing a lot of needed armor.

Since I have two models of this freak of nature, I figured I'd make some rough stats for it. It would have been near suicide to serve on this floating deathtrap.
Lexington Class Battlecruiser 1916 Hull: 134 Speed: 9 FC: STD AV: 11 SAV: 3 AA/ASW: 10/0 To Hit: 7+ Move: Cruiser, Shoot: Battleship

Wow, that does make a difference in points. I generally don't follow the point structure all that much when designing scenarios, but I can see why it was just holding its own against a South Dakota in the game I just finished.

I'm sticking with the six gun variant because that's what my model looks like if you squint at it, cock your head to one side, and dance like a chicken. So far it's been running around the table doing terrible damage to some old US battleships. It also did some terrible damage to USS Indiana, so it is a pretty potent ship. Montana came close to one-shotting Mutsu from halfway across the table. Those twelve dice are pretty scary.

Wow, that ship looks pretty mean. Tomorrow I'm going to try a one on one against Montana before doing a monster battle on my basement floor with 1 super Yamato, 1 Yamato, 1 Nagato, 1 Nachi, and 2 Furutakas vs. 1 Montana, 2 South Dakotas, 2 Clevelands, 1 Baltimore, and 1 Northampton. It's just around 4000 points per side so I should be at it for a while. I think all my furniture will be islands just to make things more amusing.

It would make sense to just drop the 20.1" guns on a Yamato hull. I have two models in 1/3000 scale and they look virtually identical to my three Yamatos. They are a poorer quality model though, so I can't tell much about the secondaries except that they are there.

Yeah, the Last Square rocks and if you buy from them, you are getting the ships from the source. I had to wait for ages to get some from Strange Cargo Games.
Aaron, by any chance when you were at Last Square did you see their Navwar ships out? I'm waiting for them to get unpacked so I can make a nice big shopping trip up there.

You don't have to repaint them before and after each battle, you just need a ship painted in each scheme. That way you are always prepared. I would have liked to have seen one of those big battleships sitting next to the tiny Russo-Japanese ships on Sunday. The size difference is staggering for just 10 years or so. I should have asked on Sunday, but what do you make the labels out of? I am using the flags you sent me though email and am thinking about using mailing labels, but I can't find a good enough size. Did you use something else for them?

I'll probably have some Sunkist with me as it's my "driving" beverage. As for food, it would probably be easier if I bring something to heat up in the microwave. I can't have anything with gluten in it which always makes things interesting when I go out to eat. Aside from that, I have some chocolate around here somewhere.

I can make it on Sunday. It'll take me a few hours to get there, but I do like driving. I might bring a few dice with but I won't bring the "lucky" dice I used in the Denmark Strait game I wrote about.

I have the movie and have read the first book in that series. I'm trying to come up with a strange alternate history/world where I can justify much larger fleets of battleships and carriers. After all, one can never have too many battleships, right?

Before this game I had only seen one magazine explosion. That was at Navcon and somehow, one of my Italian cruisers actually hit something. I'm pretty sure it was also the first time I hit the British cruiser. I'm really thinking there was something wrong with those dice because we rolled way too many 10s. I might frame them or something like that.
We might try the River Plate scenario as I discovered I also have all the ships for that. Otherwise I'll make up some crazy scenario involving Japanese heavy cruisers as I have almost all of them. I really brought ships in an odd pattern because I have loads of battleships and carriers, but a small number of cruisers and almost no destroyers. I also have a bunch of the ships killed by the Washington Treaty and a few modern ships. Someday I have to make a scenario where my Enterprise (CVN-65) finds itself in the Pacific around 1942 or so with it's escort. That would be an amusing scenario...
