One is in the works. It's being published in partnership with another game company that does these things. They're saying they'll have it out yet this year.

Sure,
I think the problem is with the volume of grape shot used. With all his ships bunched up like that, its easy for him to stack grape shot counters on top of each other. It's kinda a one-trick pony though. You might want to consider forcing him to break up his formation with ASGMs or SDTs.
Once he's not stacking grape shot counters, the issue of resolving grape shot against ships is much less of a big deal. In any case, you should be armoring up your ships pretty well so that most grape shot strikes round down to zero.
You probably also want to try a skirmish line with your fighters instead of a big clump that allows multiple squadrons to get hit by single grape shot counters.
It's really just a tactics issue. Exploring all the different tactics and counters is part of what makes CBF fun!

Right? I had no idea so many reports had been posted. That's awesome!

I was trying to stay away from speed modifiers for simplicity, but give it a shot if you think you would prefer it.

Yep. (Shhhhhh!) They approached me a while ago wanting to do a book for CBF.

Here's a forum to discuss gaming in general, not necessarily tied to SDG topics.

We've got so many battle reports here that I've split them between the NT and CBF boards so each game has its own section.
It's awesome that we have so many! Thanks guys!
I'm also going to add a forum for discussion of other game systems. We'll see if it gets any traffic.

Beautiful game! Hopefully you guys enjoyed it. It certainly looked like you guys had fun.
Yes, fighters are not WWII equivalent. In creating a balanced design system, I had to make sure somebody couldn't just spam fighters for an easy victory.
That said, some people prefer more lethal fighters. One suggestion that's been made in these forums is to allow fighters to attack from 2 hexes away. That allows you to group more fighters on a single target. There are other suggestions on the house rules board if you want to comb through there.
Anyway, loved the report and the "Peaceful Martian Fleet." Keep them coming!

hotzmats.com/This is normally where I go for mats. But I don't think they have anything special in terms of sea mats. Their space-mats are beautiful though. You might be best off just going for a rectangle of blue felt from the craft store. If you just go with the felt, you might think about a 5x8 for some extra room and a more impressive visual. If you have the room anyway.

There's the Scenarios board up above. It's not specific to system as it seemed low-traffic enough that one board could be used for all, but maybe I'll split it out.

Yeah, if I had to do it again, I'd probably write it to turn on the center point.

Not sure I understand the question. Destroyer flotillas act as a single ship for all intents and purposes other than taking damage. So you can fire everything, just as if it were a single ship.

Quite a few of those are included in one or the other of the Naval Thunder books. The rest should be easy enough to adapt just from the Order of Battle.

They actually asked to partner with us a while back with some reciprocal links. Their products are pretty good IMO. A good option for people who don't want to invest the time & money in a painted miniature fleet. I haven't looked to closely at their entire range. I think it would just be a matter of comparing a particular OOB against their product list.

The problem is, the majority of scenarios involving an air component were pretty much one-sided air vs. ships, or just air-vs-air. Despite what some other systems out there would have you believe, there just weren't a whole lot of instances where battleships were duking it out while overhead fighters and torpedo bombers were tearing at each other. That's why Naval Thunder is set up to resolve air combat prior to the start of the surface action. Its actually the more realistic way to play it. But some folks, even those who are normally sticklers about historical accuracy, seem to want swarms of airplane models on the table while surface ships are engaging each other with gunfire. Here's one of the few air/surface combined engagements that occur to me: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_off_SamarIf you want to include an additional air component, you can game the air strike on the Japanese fleet the night before. Its not much of a fair fight though. LOL
