I have seen demos of Army painter on vehicles and soldiers...pretty impressive. $25-30 vs $4 for an ink just does not make sense.

Just wondering how many play historical scenarios (using a historical OoB) vs. a random engagement just based on relative point values such as USN vs. Italy and so on?
The reason I ask is I look at NT as more of a hsitorical wargame, but I am open to historical "what if" gaming as well.
My recent back ground is playing WoTC War at Sea where anything goes. Fun Beer and Pretzels game where each side builds a supposedly equal fleet based on the units being assigned point values. I like the fact that my children can easily grasp, but not really my cup of tea if we are not at least pitting somewhat hsitorical fleets against each other.
I noticed that T ships are assigned a point value, but I did not really think it was for the puprose of building random fleets.
Just curious how others are playing.

Well at least the mini ship producers will be happy as we all purchase units in anticipation of supplements coming out...;-)))) Most definately for the Pre-dreads that will come with RotB2. I know I will be building a great white fleet once we get close. What about the WWI units that are missing from CoD...will there be another supplement or will these be added to the current ship data cards as an update for those that already purchased since there are not that many of them?

Hello, Just wondering if there is an updated timeline on RoTB2. Looking forward to some Spanish American war stuff.
Also are there any plans to release other ship Data for CoD. In particular looking for Data cards for Squadron 6 (USN BBs).
TIA,

Are you moving to a different scale? Yes, for WWII I am using my WoTC war at Sea minis 1/1800 scale(I own a huge collection). At the time I bought these WoTC collection was very limited. Now they are about to release Set 5 so there will be over 200 models to choose from. I just don't need WWII units in two different scales. For the time being I have settled on 1/2400 for WWI and other periods. BTW, I just checked my messages and sale is now pending on the entire lot. Thanks,

If I recall my history classes correctly, there was considerable support for the US to enter WWI on the German side. Now this strikes me as perhaps a very interesting "what if" . . . it would be interesting to think about how this would have played out in naval terms. Seeing your lovely model prompts some interesting thoughts about a German-American alliance and how Britain would have to deploy to deal with it. . . . And how access to American coal would have changed Germany's tactics in the Pacific and South Atlantic theatres. -- Jeff My FLGS did a campaign on this premise with a UK/Japan vs US/Germany. We had some huge fights in the Caribean using some local rules and 1/1200 models. There are so many "what if" scenarios that could be done. That is why I like the AP Great War at sea games because the delve into both history and the proposed war plans.

I recently decided I am going to liquidate my 1/6000 collection. I sold many of my painted minis this past weekend at NAVCON with the exception of the USN. Here are pics of what I have. USN: RN: Axis (Italy/Germany): All is still in original packaging with the ref sheet. Most never opened. I do not expect to get full retail for it, but am not going to give it away either. Most packs retail $3-6.75 You can see the full price list here: USN: www.lastsquare.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_933_934_965_975RN: www.lastsquare.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_933_934_965_966Italy: www.lastsquare.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_933_934_965_977Germany: www.lastsquare.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_933_934_965_968I prefer to sell as a lot. I do not expect to get full retail value for these, the prices are just for reference. Just make an offer if interested. I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong area. Panzerschiffe has all of the Yellow Sea ships in 1/2400 . . . and they're well priced (i.e., cheaper than the 1/3000 scale WTJ ships, which are lovel too). -- Jeff Hello, I looked up the ships on Panzerschiffe and was able to find all but one. Tsessarevitch seems to be missing. Is it listed under a different name? A quick wiki search tells me that it was based on the BORODINO class. Anyway here is the list. Assuming I can identify the missing ship $40 plus shipping is not bad for 12 ships. Tsessarevitch Retvizan L-321 $4.00 Pobieda A-301 $4.00 Peresviet-A-301 $4.00 Sevastapol L-329 $3.00 Poltava L-329 $3.00 Mikasa L-323 $3.00 Asahi L-323 $3.00 Fuji L-324 $3.00 Shikishima L-330 $3.00 Nisshin L-325 $3.00 Kasuga L-325 $3.00 Any help is greatly appreciated. Very nice, sir . . . but for the prices they charge, they are out of my price range . . . but it is a lovely model. -- Jeff Yeah, I will not be fielding a grand fleet of these models, but a small contingent maybe. The detail is great, but a bit delicate as well. Since I do not plan to have alot of USN WWI units I figured they would be a great fleet to try these with. PS detail on the smaller ships is perfect for me, but some of the BBs especially the USN units with the cage mast leave a little too much out for my taste.

Ship:USS Texas BB-35 Manufacturer:GHQ Scale:1/2400 I Decided I need to have a small American Presence with The Grand Fleet. I could not think of a better choice than USS Texas. I have never tried a GHQ Model, so I decided it was time. They are very nice and the detail is great and they should be for the price compared to other options. I give you USS Texas: From Wiki: In the drydock.....USS Wyoming

If you have a Conway's you might be able to at least substitute similar ships from other navies that are listed until all the ships are available. It seems interest is picking up in that period for naval warfare. I think alot of that is thanks to these rules which lend themselves to that period.

I have been looking a aquiring some Russian and Japanese fleets.
The question is which units to get.
I played a nice scenario at NAVCON (Battle of Ulsan) 4 Japanese Units vs. 3 Russian.
Tsushima and Yellow Sea just seem to big to start out. Additionally I am having a hard time finding one vendor that has all the units (maybe some are not that critical?).
Anyway, if someone has a related scenario or recomendation for units from part of one of the battles to start out with that would be a great help.
My guess is I would never be able to get more than 2-4 players at one time unless attending a Con so the larger battles do not make alot of scense. Doing part of one of these actions may be more realistic if someone thinks they can be divided up.
I prefer to stick with Panzerschiffe 1/2400 as I am using them for my WWI, but I am open to suggestions to fill units that they may not carry.
TIA,

Well I spoke to David(Panzerschiffe) today and explained the situation. He verified that his current stock in the drawer is correctly labeled, but did acknowledge mistakes happen. He willing aggreed to send me a free replacement with my next order which should be pretty soon now that I have discovered the Russo-Japanese War.

Also look at the Landironclads for the land version. Ken Yes, I saw those as well....so many games and so little time. I think I will focus on building up my NT fleets for now.

Always open to new options....I love Naval gaming as well as aerial combat games, so something like this combines both worlds.
The only thing currently lacking is a nice line of minis which makes any game more visually appealing.
