Thank you for your insights, and let me thank you for your hard work in playtesting these rules which I think have turned out really well. It was our pleasure and again, thanks Harry! In the original game we found the game balanced when we had four Basestars vs two Battlestars (but we had to be careful not to space them too far apart because we restricted the big ships to slow speeds). It had a great flavor that was very evocative of the series, with missiles flying all over. However, the fighter rules were not as interesting as they are now in the new rules. Sounds like it was fun also, glad you like the new fighter rules. I think when you add in the ECM, Mirco-jumps and the rest you'll find the the Cyber-attacks are a pain for the Colonials and the Tiger gunships a godsend .I just noticed that my "Hangar" hardpoint has 5 fighters and 1 gunship which for one exceeds the hardpoint capacity, so I'm going back to separate hardpoints for each fighter type. I'm trying my best to stick to the shipbuilding rules as given. As I tweak the stats I find the Basestar point build spiralling downward so I might end up with that 3:2 ratio you found during your playtests. I noticed that on the Basestar, but figured that was the idea. The basestars are fragile, but in numbers can wipe you out quickly. On the Mercury you had a hardpoint that was empty. You could move the Raptors there and add two more MkIIIs. Do we give the Cylons Point Defense? Cluster Missiles? There are different ways to go and in a way, the shipbuilding part of the game reminds me of building a deck for Magic: The Gathering--lots of fun even when you're not playing If you look at the designs you see the machines have some PDF and clusters. The cluster are there to guard the ASGMs and the Bombardment Missiles (BMs) against fighters and ECM raptors. They fill this role nicely.

Hey, the Huston's arrive today, well yesterday actually but had to sit at the post office overnight. They are a bit rough. My buddy received his Russians a week or more ago and has been busy building them. He has replaced many/all of the side turret/Barbette gun barrels as these didn't cast very well. You also need the cut, scape, and file on these guys, but in the end will be worth it. I think I ended up with some copies of the same ships, so might offer them here if someone would be interested . I'll let you know when and what I have after I get working on these. Thanks again to Bluebear for pointing me to where I could find these.

It sounds like you had a good time, how different are the rules than the original set? Your ships are interesting designs. After looking them over, I thought this might be a good place to explain some of the ideas that went into the ship designs. When Dread asked me if I would be interested in helping on this project, something I'm very grateful for, he send me a Mercury and Basestar (and a couple of other ships) stats. From the first, I felt the Mercury was too large when you compared it with the models available and the mass ceiling above its stats. Harry reasoned that the ship had to be able to fight off several ships as depicted in movies and TV series. We discussed a 1000 point human ship, but reserved that for the early machines. There are several heavy ships on both side, armed to the teeth. So I can see many players using the Odysseus class as the more famous ships. Of course we didn't mess with the hard points, which I believe is the main reason you can't break Dread's ship design formula and is the heart of the game. The Cyborg ships were made smaller in mass, even though you might argue that they are huge on screen, so it was easier to out number the colonials and yet give a balanced game for those who play even point battles. The goal was for the machines to outnumber the humans about 3/2 in ships. This worked well in play testing and gives a good even points game. The additional ships allows the machines more hard points filled with fighters and missiles which gives the humans that OH @#%$* feeling when they are coming at you. Thanks for sharing, like to hear what happens when you use these with your buddies!

"When we arrived home the Mrs. was not as impressed with our new treassures, so I figured I will share them here where they might be more appreciated. "
Isn't this why the forum is here? The Mrs. isn't impressed with most of our "toys" as she calls them.

You don't ask for much We are working on 60" now but I have no idea when that will be a reality. 56" will not be available after that. everything will be upgraded to 60". At this time 72" is unrealistic. I understand, how about 3inch hexes? I notice you went from 2.5 to 4 inch.

As far as I can tell, you are correct about the armament on Nagara. The Excel Card tool seems to be incorrect, but the PDF Data card has the stats you memtioned. You could photo the page from the PDF (Tools-Select Zoom-snapshot tool Click on datacard, paste into Word, corp picture down) You won't be able to type on it unless you place a textbox. This will help for now, I'm sure Dread will take care of it next up-date. Note: Does someone else know a better/easier way to do this, let us know! ;D

The vinyl sea surface is a nice idea, one of our group had one, which he found in 72". A piece of PVC pipe works well to roll it up on, that's what Holz maps sends his on.

I wonder if the raider ability could be used/modified for the cloaking of Rom/King ships?
